ARTIST STATMENT

Art-making for me has become a journey of discovery, beginning with watercolors and growing from there. I have found great satisfaction each time I learn to use a new medium, learning and experimenting with tools and techniques, textures and color. My current work is primarily mixed media, done with acrylics and painted paper collage. However, I’ve also been working with oil and cold wax medium as well as acrylic monoprinting. I do recognize some constants. My approach is the same, regardless of medium. I seldom start with a sketch, often beginning without a clearly defined goal. I might only have a sense of general subject or preferred color palette or basic compositional format, and as the layers and textures develop, so does my direction. My finished work tends to be colorful, stylized, and sometimes a bit whimsical, with my subjects gravitating to trees and leaves, flowers and birds. It’s a process of adding, lifting, and layering paint that I find very satisfying. 

ARTIST BIO  

Reineking is a member of Q Gallery Artists Cooperative in Stevens Point and a studio artist on the Hidden Studios Art Tour.  She is, additionally, represented at The Pink Llama Gallery in Cedarburg, WI.    She has works in the collection of Marshfield Clinic Health System on display at multiple campuses, and at The Inn at SentryWorld in Stevens Point.
