William Mckee - Studio Owner - STUDIO #5

William McKee is a Central Wisconsin artist whose work is rooted in wood, often incorporating found objects and mixed media. His pieces bring together carefully worked wood with familiar and sometimes unexpected materials, giving everyday objects a new context and purpose.

Rulers, gears, chains, brushes, metal components and other collected objects may find their way into his work. Bill has an eye for the character already present in these materials and combines them in sculptural compositions that invite a closer look. His work can be playful, architectural and thought-provoking, with an appreciation for both craftsmanship and the history carried by the objects themselves.

William has a long connection to the Hidden Studios Art Tour, having participated in the Tour for many years before taking a break and returning in 2026.

Beyond his own artwork, William has been active in local government and his community and has supported the arts in practical ways. His knowledge and assistance have helped fellow artists navigate local requirements, including the zoning process that allowed a former church to begin a new life as an art studio and gallery.
