I consider myself fortunate to have been born and raised by loving, supportive parents in beautiful Appleton, Wisconsin. It is there that I developed my interest in creating art. In my early 40’s, however, my life and career took me away from my hometown. As a result, I was able to spend time in the Chicago area and 17 wonderful years in the Pacific Northwest. Recently, my subconscious desire to come “home” took over, and I now happily reside in Stevens Point.
For thousands of years, artists have been painting places. It's from the specifics of a site that meaning, and perceptions are transformed into memories. Places are stories told through history and the experiences of those that pass through. I create my paintings with the hope of capturing that history.
18 years ago, after experimenting with several mediums, I began working with soft pastels. I loved the medium from that very first moment and have been working with it ever since. I am primarily self-taught and constantly working to improve my skills. My style is a softened realism. Landscapes is the genre that brings me the most joy. My intention is to represent the beauty of nature in its truest form.
