Artist Statement: My work is a study of color and design in decorative and functional fiber, utilizing machine piecing and free motion quilting. It is based on a lifetime of sewing and color immersion, and explores the relationship between traditional quilting methods and modern materials and techniques. I find inspiration everywhere, in nature, architecture, art, and travel.
Artist Bio: I initially learned to sew and quilt from my grandmother in Hustisford, Wisconsin, and have continued to study and create quilts that explore the world of color. In doing so, I've participated in workshops with Nancy Crow, a leader in the art quilting movement; with textile designer and color master Kaffe Fassett; and with British textile artist, designer, and colorist Brandon Mably. I have been exhibiting in art and fine craft shows since 2004, including the prestigious American Craft Exhibition. My quilts are in the collection of Promega, and have been purchased by patrons across the US, as well as in Europe, Western Australia, and Canada.
Materials and Process Description: My work is a study of color and design in decorative and functional fiber, utilizing machine piecing and free motion quilting. My designs incorporate a modern take on traditional patterns, using vibrant colors and high quality fabrics to create unique, contemporary functional pieces. All quilts and runners are handmade by me in my home studio.
